Who are Verdn?
Verdn empowers people and companies to have a positive impact by letting them support valuable sustainable causes like ocean plastic clean-ups, tree planting and coral planting. Verdn was started by Chris and Rory, who met at university and have worked together for the past decade. They have both spent several years in the green-tech space and are now using their experience to create a service the world really needs.

Tree planting
In the fight against climate change, trees are an invaluable resource, because they absorb and store the atmospheric carbon. In return, they release oxygen, create habitats for many of the Earths species of plants and animals, protect the soil, improve water quality, and help to regulate climate.
Verdn partner with Eden Reforestation Projects, an organisation who are dedicated to reducing extreme poverty and restoring healthy forests by employing local villagers to plant millions of trees every year. Trees pledged through Verdn are planted in either Madagascar, Mozambique, or Kenya. In the beginning, they are exclusively re-planting mangrove forests along coastal ecosystems, which store four times as much carbon as tropical rainforests.

Ocean-bound plastic recovery
More than 350 million tonnes of plastic is produced every year, over 8 million tonnes of which enters our ocean. By collecting this plastic before it’s lost at sea, it can instead be recycled, upcycled, or used for energy.
Verdn partner with Empower, who create innovative solutions to the plastic waste problem by giving plastic a value – enabling collectors, recyclers, brands and consumers to make a real impact on the environment.
Empower are helping to clean up the world while fighting poverty by providing a crucial income to local waste pickers living in disadvantaged communities. Together with NGOs and charities, they set up collection points that issue financial rewards in exchange for plastic deposits. This plastic is then digitally registered so that it can be traced back up the supply chain.
The uncomfortable truth is that as a skincare brand, we exist within an industry driven by consumption and waste, which is a major contradiction to the very concept of sustainability. We know we can always do more and strive to take a holistic and results-driven approach to being a sustainably responsible brand. Like Verdn and the organizations they partner with, we are committed to making better, more conscious choices today, to help bring about a cleaner tomorrow - because skincare should work everyone, including our planet.
