Unlocking the Benefits of Beta Carotene (from Green Algae) in skincare

The green algae, Tetradesmus obliquus, is rich in carotenoids, including beta carotene and xanthophylls. Carotenoids are some of the most powerful antioxidants there are that naturally sit in the skin's lipid membrane, helping to protect against free radicals and slow the visible signs of ageing. We use soothing beta carotene from green algae, a provitamin, which also helps strengthen the skin barrier for brighter looking, smoother skin.

Beta Carotene (from Green Algae) is used in Bio Retinoid™ Youth Serum

Where do we source it from: Native to the Swiss lakes, there is a green algae known as Tetradesmus obliquus that naturally produces carotenoids to shield itself when exposed to light. Our algae is cultivated in a daylight photo-bioreactors in the UK and carotenoids are sustainably obtained by CO2 extraction.
